Keep word tags:
everything
Each of the homework assignments, reading assignments, lab work, reading blog posts, printing and completing flashcard questions, printing and working through old quizzes, midterms.

go to class
coming to class offers insightful help on topics that may have been confusing during the blog/reading. also, talking to classmates and working problems out in class with the professor's help is necessary
When I come to every class It keeps me on track and aware of whats going on, what I need to know, and I dont miss things (like forgetting it was a quiz day).
Actually being in class to see the examples being done and work on the whiteboards is extremely valuable in this class. Even though all the information is online or in the textbook, seeing the way to use the material and how it all connects is a huge help on the quizzes and midterms.
      To better understand the material
To continue to be successful or be more successful in this class I need to keep showing up to class and lab every time. In class I need to continue to keep good notes and pay close attention to examples and confusing sections.
I intend to continue to go over the presentations online and show up to every class.

homework
It helps when i do the reading assignment and homework on time. Whenever i miss a reading assignment i feel like i don't understand the material as well, and have to go back and reread the assignment and review problems more than i usually would have to.
I'm going to keep doing homework
Without going through all of these and keeping up with the materials in the class, I know I would be really struggling in this class. Doing those things helps me to see different variations of problems that could potentially show up on a quiz or exam, and they increase my ability to tackle a problem that may not look like anything I've done before because they improve my overall problem-solving process.
I think I've been pretty good with keeping up with homework and reading assignments in this class. Also I think it is good to print out the flashcard problems and have them in class. I think this helps, I just need to be more productive with everything.
last semester i had a problem remembering to do the online surveys for homework and reading, this semester i have been much better at remembering them.
havent been doing all the required HW so i need to make sure i need to do them form now on to pass the class
As I compare this semester from the last one, in terms of physics, I notice that if I keep up on the homework and reading assignments, my score is dramatically increased if I were to just put it off entirely, which is what I did for the good beginning portion of 205A. It provides a large cushion, to be sure, and has absorbed the blow of a hard midterm score that would prove to be near fatal if that reading and homework credit were not there.

managetime
use my time wisely. Check my planner everyday.

motivation
Physics, like anything, can be a difficult subject to understand. I find that being interested in physics motivates me to try to learn and apply it.

perseverance
never back down, no surrender--the movie 300
i intend to not give up when i don't know certain subjects, and keep working on practice problems.

practice problems
Got to keep writing things down, and refreshing what i can i my head. most important is to practices... that what mom always used to say.
for this class, it is vital to do practice problems for each subject covered. if each problem isnt practiced until perfection, it will be hard to do other problems.
I found practicing example problems in the book and those provided before the midterm was most helpful to me. These help me to understand concepts and apply them to problems similar to those on the quizzes and midterms.
fully understanding the quizzes to help me understand the material for the class
Doing practice problems assigned in homework and practice quizzes helps me understand how to use all the equations. The flashcard questions help me understand the concepts. P-Dog is a great instructor because he responds to my e-mail inquiries very promptly and thoroughly.

read blog
The blogs give a more entertaining and specific view of the material needed and are usually easier to understand than the book.

review notes
I intend to continue reviewing my notes after class to see what I do and do not comprehend.

studying
I create study notes for each quiz/midterm a day or two prior to the test to study from the day of the test.
Studying- by continuing to study I will be prepared for class and quizzes as well as tests.
In order to succeed in this class I will keep up with the material. Lab's help a lot with the concepts taught in class so, I will keep being as much involved as possible.
I'll keep up the presentations and keep studying the interesting topics this class has to offer. studying with peers in groups and talking amongst ourselves about different physics concepts.
Quit word tags:
distractions
      Stop distracting myself
Got to work out or reduce distractions which i can use that time for other things that are more productive like the gym or hiking.

not following up
Sometimes in class when I can't figure out a homework problem our group will just skip it. I've noticed this causes me to miss some important skills needed for that problem and then I don't know how to do certain things on the quizzes.
I need to make a note of questions I have and stop assuming the answer may come up later. I need to email you or look up answers to questions as they arise.

not reading
not doing the textbook reading each week. Partially due to not having owned a textbook till recently

procrastinating
maybe make a schedule for my day so I can put in more time for physics, and actually find more time to study for a quiz/test
waiting until a day or two before a quiz or test to do most of the studying. Reviewing in advance tends to help me perform better in class.
Instead of creating the study guides a day prior I'm going to make them the weekend before the quiz/test
By stop waiting until the last minute means that instead of waiting to study for the quiz and exams the night before or the day of before the test I will study before that date and more often.
I always wait until the night before to do the homework or study. I just dont seem to have any motivation without an impending deadline. I have always struggled with this, but I have got to figure it out!
I should do my homework earlier.
doing other things and puting it on side to last minute
I intend to stop procrastinating about studying
I tend to do all the homework, but I put it off until the night of, which makes things hard because I forget a lot of what I learned in lecture. This is a bad habit I need to quit to succeed in this class.
procrastination is the number one cause of failure, especially in a class like this. if everything isnt practiced, it will be hard to get all the advanced material.
      I have been slacking
i need to stay more organized with time, bc i will do my hw and not be around a computer at a certain time and forget to submit hw
      Do your homework in advance
I intend to quit putting off some of the assignments until the last minute.
This presses my time since I usually get off at 10pm and have maybe an hour and a half to cram the homework and try to get an understanding of the blog after a full days work.
I intend to stop procrastinating and putting physics off until the last minute in terms of when homework is due and studying the night before an exam or quiz. To succeed in this class and truly understand the material I need to give myself enough time to spend with the material and not put myself in all-nighter situations.
I tend to do the hw a few hours before it is due, so I am pressed for time and fell that I decrease my learning capacity by rushing.
This seems to follow me no matter what I do. Heck, I'm doing this survey an hour before it's due! I seem to just put off studying until the night of, or even a few hours before it's time to take the test/quiz. I need to spend several days, at the very least, to prepare myself for the upcoming tests/quizzes in order to be fully prepared each and every time, which leads into my START section.
When I put off doing homework assignments and practice quizzes until the last minute, I don't always have time to ask questions and get clarifications on concepts that I find confusing.

skimming
because of time constarints i tend to only do the assigned problems once and hope that is enough to know the equation neccessary.

slacking
With such a busy schedule with work and school, I need to make that extra effort and not rely on other factors as use them as an excuse to just get by in this class.
Put more time into homework. not just skimming the homework an hour before it's do

textbook
The book does not do a very good job at explaining things. The practice problems are good, and many of the images are helpful too. But a lot of their explanations make the concepts seem way more complicated than they really are. I will continue to do some basic skimming, but overall reading in depth did little to benefit my skills.

unproductivepeople
I need to stop working on whiteboards with people who distract me from the problems or are unable to reason to the answer with me.
Start word tags:
ask questions
Asking questions is how I learn. The more engaged I am in the problem, the more likely I will understand it.
I intend to start asking questions on the material I don't comprehend.
I want to try to get the flashcard questions understood the day of learning them. If there's anything I don't understand, I want to email you asap so I don't get left behind on the material.

balance
balance between this class and others vs focusing on one or two classes

concepts
put more effort into understanding the actual concepts and relationships of what we go over

earlier
Constantly review concepts and questions prior to quizes and midterms. I want to review the lesson right after i get out of class again to help the information stick. I did this in my high school trig class and noticed I remembered more of the material
That way when I have questions I can ask you right away instead of intending to ask later and then forgetting what my question even was 6 hours later.
I need to start being much more efficient and productive with everything.
Instead of waiting to do the homework and reading assignments the night before they are do, I think I should do them earlier in order to remember what I learned in lecture and apply it correctly. That way I will struggle much less trying to remember everything for the homework. Also I need to start bringing all my prior notes to class, I feel like it would be productive to recap on everything five minutes before class so I am refreshed and I know what is going on.
i have only been studying for quizzes the day of or the day before. i need to start studying earlier to get a full understanding
I need to get caught up and go on a little ahead of where we are instead of lagging a little at this point in the semester.
Last minute cramming, while effective sometimes, almost ensures that I will not actually learn the material covered, which is the biggest crime of all. For me, if something needs to get down, I seem to do as little as possible, but just enough, in order to get by. Based off of my last test score, though, this will not cut it whatsoever, so a little less flippancy and a little more discipline is needed in order that I not only do well, but also learn what is taught in this super essential class.
If I finish all the practice quizzes and flashcard questions ahead of time I will be able to check my answers before the quizzes rather than after.

flashcard questions ("peer-instruction," "think-pair-share")
I think I will benefit from finishing the flashcard questions that we don't confer in class. These are on multiple quizzes and the multiple choice of midterms because they emphasize concepts.
try doing flash cards again those always used to help. and writing a calendar

go to class
I have been missing too many classes due to medical reasons but I intend on starting to have good attendance again. I will also try to explain things more in group settings rather than just listening to what the other people have to say about how they got the answer.
Show up for your lecture. When I come to class, I do not have to study nearly as much and the concepts are much more clear.
Actually i think i only missed on class and that was because of a really bad case of poison oak. But having missed it is bothering me.

homework
i intend to start doing homework more in depth and start taking notes on the reading assignments.
Do every assigned HW READING and everything

office hours
      come to office hours.

organization
i will organize my assignments and time

practice exams
to be better prepared for quizzes

read blog
I am going to look at the blog problems more often.
Instead of trying so hard to understand the in-book reading, I want to try to better understand the blogs because those have seemed to help me understand the material better and improve my overall progress in class. Also, I think I would do much better on test and quiz problems if I spent more time going through the picture quizzes and related stuff on the blogs because it exposes me to more types of problems.

reading
A lot of times I will only read the presentation or quickly skim the textbook. Reading the text first and then looking at the lecture is a much better way to obtain and connect the ideas. I'm not as lost in class when I do it that way.
      reading the textbook chapters
If I read the blogs and do some of the homework the day of class I can go back the night before and either do the assignments faster and retain more, or finish early and review before class to see what I remember.
I haven't read all of the chapters.

study more
Studying more frequently will allow me to be better prepared for the exam and quizzes.
I will start trying to grasps the on a more detail level instead of relying on the presentations to give me the 4.1.1 on everything. I will indulge myself with practice problems and rererere-read chapter and sections to get better insight. Also, maybe go to office hours once in a while.
I'm going to start studying more
To do better and succeed in this class I need to start studying more meaning I need to go over the online presentations in more depth, reading the textbook more, and practicing problems and examples from the text, online, and from class. I have and do currently study, read, and practice but not nearly enough to achieve the grades I would like. Hopefully by keeping, quitting, and starting these changes I will better increase my chances at success in this class.
